Eleven years ago the relationship between Gabi and Cole came to a screeching halt and shattering both their lives for a while. Now years later they are both back in their hometown trying to make the best of things. Gabi had joined the military and made something of herself but when tragedy strikes she is ends up back at her fathers house to deal with the aftermath. Cole spent the last several years in jail for the mistakes of his past and is out trying to pick up the pieces. Will these two get a second chance or is the past in the past? Will things stand in their way or will they be happy together again?
I downloaded this book at around midnight on the 24th and didn't get a chance to read it until the afternoon of the 25th. I couldn't put it down. The story is heart wrenching in parts and then happy in other parts. I was a bit confused in the beginning because it takes a while before you find out what happened to Gabi but once you find out things flow a little better. Also the jumping between past and present so much made the book feel a little choppy to me. However, as you can tell by the fact that I read this book in a matter of a couple hours it doesn't completely screw up the book.
I absolutely loved the characters and the story line. As I said before I felt like the story was a little choppy but I didn't feel that it completely took anything away from the book. I felt like I was a part of this book. I feel like this book dealt with a lot of different things revolving around discharged military personnel and how they feel and look at things when they get home. I truly felt for Gabi and everything she was going through. I loved how the characters and the plot worked together.
I look forward to reading more books my Marissa!
